On our last visit to Walt Disney World, we were lucky to have the Disney Dining Plan! We planned to use our table service credits to try out a restaurants that we hadn’t eaten at before. On the final day of our trip, our flight didn’t leave until the evening and we hadn’t planned on going to a park that day. We headed over to have lunch at Disney Springs and try out T-REX restaurant for the first time! We had planned to walk around and shop as well, but an extreme downpour of rain had us trapped under an awning and running between buildings, struggling to even make it to the restaurant. Due to the rain, we were a few minutes late to the restaurant. Luckily, it was not a problem and we were escorted to our table fairly quickly after checking in.
Atmosphere at T-Rex Restaurant
We loved the atmosphere of the T-REX restaurant! The dinosaur theme was evident throughout the entire place. There were prehistoric creatures everywhere you look and they even had several different sections like an Ice Age room and an Under the Sea bar. Every 15 minutes or so, a ‘meteor shower’ shook the restaurant with a loud noise and flashing lights. After our meal we took a few minutes to walk around and take some pictures of the scenery and with the dinosaurs. With so much to see, you could easily eat here a few times in different areas, and not feel like your experience was too repetitive. If you have a child who loves dinosaurs, this is definitely an experience they will absolutely love!
After eating at the restaurant, you can also visit the gift shop and pick up some dinosaur-themed items. They also have a prehistoric Build-a-Bear workshop, which we had never seen before. They had all kinds of dinosaurs and other animals like mammoths and sloths, which made it more unique than your typical Build-a-Bear store.
Service at T-Rex Restaurant
Our server was nice and friendly, made recommendations to us and brought our food promptly. No complaints here! The staff at the gift shop were also helpful, and the employee who helped us at the Build-a-Bear was exceptionally nice and lessened the awkwardness of an adult stuffing their new Build-a-Bear sloth. Overall, the staff at T-REX lived up to the Disney quality you’ve grown accustomed to throughout your vacation.
Food at T-Rex Restaurant
Most importantly: the food. We didn’t go into this meal with high expectations for the quality of food, as we figured this restaurant was really more about the atmosphere. HOWEVER the quality of the food pleasantly surprised us! The menu had a lot of appealing options, making it hard to decide what to order. The Chicken Fried Chicken was to die for, and the Bronto Burger pleased as well. We all really enjoyed our food, and were really impressed with the quality! Even without the atmosphere, the food was good enough to make us want to come back and eat here again.
Conclusion
Overall, we were really pleased with our experience here and as a result, we would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a place to eat at Disney Springs. They had a pretty extensive menu and the food was great, far better than we expected! This would be a great addition to a trip for a family whose vacation is feeling a bit princess-heavy, for kids who aren’t into characters or for any family with a dinosaur-fan!
