Disney Cruise Line

Why a Disney Cruise is NOT just for kids!

Many people believe that Disney Cruise Line (DCL) is just for kids. They believe that although their children will enjoy it, there won’t be much for the parents to do onboard. Those same people probably think a Disney Cruise would not be a good choice for an adults-only vacation. We can say from experience that this is certainly not true!

Why a Disney Cruise is not just for kids

While there’s no denying that the children’s activities onboard are exceptional, the cruise line does not only cater to the young. Disney Cruise Line specializes in families. This means they will have something for every member of the family to enjoy, no matter their age! There are a wide variety of guests onboard, including people of all ages, and Disney has planned their cruises accordingly. Therefore, with offerings for children, tweens, teens and adults (not to mention all the activities that families can participate in together) there is never a lack of options to choose from onboard a Disney Cruise.

Our Favorite Adult-Only Areas and Activities on Disney Cruise Line

Having cruised DCL as a child, teenager and now adult, I can say without hesitation that the adult activities have been my favorite! In order to clear up the misconception that a Disney Cruise is only for kids, here are some of the best activities and areas available onboard that are just for adults:

1. Adult Exclusive Dining at Palo & Remy on Disney Cruise ships

Romantic restaurant on a Disney Cruise

First, this one is for guests who love fine dining or want to celebrate a special occasion! Two adult-exclusive restaurants offer exquisite dining in a romantic setting. Onboard all four ships you’ll find Palo, an Italian restaurant offering a traditional Italian menu with a modern twist. On the Dream and Fantasy, you can dine at Remy and experience French-inspired cuisine in an exceptional dining experience.

2. Beverage Tasting Seminars

Secondly, Guests 21+ can sign up for tastings of tequila, martinis, whiskey or other drinks for an additional fee. This is a great opportunity to mingle with other adults and taste a variety of drinks. We suggest the decadent chocolate and liquor tasting!

3. Quiet Cove Pool & Satellite Falls

Thirdly, the Quiet Cove pool is a peaceful outdoor area where guests 18+ can swim, use the hot tubs, and relax in comfortable lounge chairs. The Dream and Fantasy even have a swim up bar so you can enjoy a tropical beverage without leaving the pool. This is a wonderful oasis for adult guests who want to enjoy the sunshine on their cruise! On the Dream and Fantasy, Satellite Falls is another adult-only shallow pool and deck area that is the perfect place to relax.

4. Clubs, Bars, Lounges & Nightlife

Silent DJ Party on Disney Cruise Line

Next, when the sun goes down, Deck 3 Forward on the classic ships and Deck 4 Aft on the newer ships becomes an adult-exclusive getaway! Here, guests 18+ can have a drink, see a live show and enjoy music or dancing. Whether enjoying a beer in a sports pub, relaxing in a piano lounge or enjoying the music from a live DJ, there is something for everyone in this fun, adult-only space!

5. Nightly Adult-Only Shows

Additionally, one of the highlights of DCL is the entertainment, and the adult shows are no exception! Comedians, hypnotists, magicians and other variety acts are onboard to entertain in nightly adult-exclusive shows. They even have live game shows where guests can come onstage and participate in the show. Our favorite is Match Your Mate, DCL’s version of the Newlywed Game played with couples from the audience. The evening adult shows are something you definitely don’t want to miss onboard your cruise!

6. Senses Spa & Salon

Lastly, each ship has a spa and fitness centre exclusively for adults to enjoy. A stunning ocean view makes exercising that much better in the fitness center. At the spa, book a massage, enjoy the sauna, relax and take some time for yourself. Be sure to check out the Rainforest room, where for an additional fee you can enjoy saunas, showers and loungers (and Jacuzzi tubs on the Dream and Fantasy).
