It’s hard to believe it has been over a year since our Disney Cruise Line wedding. Our wedding cruise was in May 2019, and the time since then has passed in the blink of an eye (I’m sure COVID-19 played a big role in that). Every time I see a photo pop up on Facebook, or walk past the canvas photos in our home, I remember that beautiful day and how special it was! Our Disney Cruise Line wedding was practically perfect in every way. I know we’ll never regret choosing a Disney Cruise as the perfect way to start our marriage. Here are some of our favorite moments and memories from our Disney Cruise Line wedding:
Sailing with Our Family and Friends
We had 50 guests attend our Disney Cruise Line wedding. Getting to set sail aboard our favorite cruise line with so many of our friends and family was absolutely magical. While of course we had many family members and friends who weren’t able to attend, we consider ourselves so lucky to have to have had so many sail with us! Getting to share the magic of a Disney Cruise with people who had never experienced it before was amazing. Plus, we got to spend 3 days making wonderful memories with our guests rather than just 1 day for a typical wedding.
Our Welcome Party
On the first day of the cruise, we had a welcome party in Pub 687 to gather everyone together and kick off the cruise. We had an open bar and enjoyed getting to visit with all our guests while enjoying Strawberry Daiquiris and Pina Colavas. It was also a great opportunity for our guests to meet and mingle before our wedding day!
Magical Setting and Perfect Weather for our Disney Cruise Line Wedding
The beautiful Disney Dream cruise ship and the stunning island of Castaway Cay made for a perfect backdrop of our wedding day. We were extremely lucky to have perfect weather during our ceremony (extremely lucky as in, it started raining RIGHT when we got back on the ship)! Our photographer, Mikkel of Mikkel Paige Photography, captured the beauty of the setting so perfectly.
Our Cake and Champagne Reception
After our ceremony, back aboard the Disney Dream, we had a short cake and champagne reception in D Lounge. We had our first dance, a champagne toast and our wedding cake. The cake was vanilla with a citrus lemon buttercream, and it was delicious! The reception was short and sweet, so our guests could go out and enjoy the island for the afternoon.
Taking Portraits Around the Ship
Mikkel, our INCREDIBLE photographer was absolutely amazing. She made us feel so comfortable in front of the camera and we had so much fun taking photos around the ship. She really has an eye for detail and a knack for finding the perfect photo spots (she came prepared with a list of spots around the ship)! We are so thankful we have all these beautiful memories to adorn our walls and look at forever.
Extra Disney Magic
Having our wedding with Disney Cruise Line meant that our wedding had a little extra magic involved. Getting our photo taken with Mickey, seeing a Broadway-style production of Beauty and the Beast on our wedding night and a hidden Mickey in my bouquet were some of those special touches!
