Top Honeymoon Destinations: Ideas for your Perfect Vacation

Deciding where to go for your honeymoon can be a difficult decision! A honeymoon is the perfect time to rest after a stressful season of wedding planning, and the first chance you get to relax and enjoy time with your new spouse. For some, an exciting adventure in a faraway place is the ideal destination, while for others, a relaxing beach is all they need. In this blog post, we will list our top favorite honeymoon destinations and types of travel. We’ll also discuss what we like about each destination, and which type of couple each honeymoon destination would be perfect for!

All-Inclusive Resort in the Caribbean

All-Inclusive Resorts are what many people will think of as a typical honeymoon. Beautiful beaches, sunshine and unlimited food and drinks; what else could you ask for? This type of vacation is perfect for those just looking to relax and soak up the sun!

Resorts

There are so many incredible destinations and resorts that the options are endless! We love AMResorts, and their Secrets resorts (one of their adult-only brands) would be perfect for a honeymoon. Click to see our review of Secrets Cap Cana in Punta Cana, we absolutely loved this resort! Another popular choice is Sandals, which is known specifically for being a top destination for honeymooning couples. They have resorts on a wide variety of Caribbean Islands including Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia and Grenada. While many people will think of Sandals when they think of all-inclusives, it definitely isn’t your only choice. While it’s known for honeymoons, in our opinion it dilutes the specialness of being on your honeymoon if everyone else at the resort is also on their honeymoon, too. Sandals has great marketing which is why it’s so widely known, but just because they are a popular brand doesn’t mean their resorts will be better than others. Karisma, Palace Resorts and the aforementioned AMResorts are all fabulous resort brands to consider as well!

Islands

There are so many beautiful islands in the Caribbean to consider when choosing an all-inclusive resort. Islands like the Dominican Republic and Jamaica are extremely popular and have great flight options from many U.S. and Canadian cities. Other islands like St. Lucia, Antigua and Grenada may be a little harder to get to, but more than make up for it with incredible resorts and gorgeous scenery. You really can’t go wrong! We suggest taking a look at flights from your city to see where direct flights are available and what the more affordable islands to fly to are. Then, once you’ve narrowed down to a destination you should start looking at resorts!

Walt Disney World

While Disney World is known as a family vacation destination, it’s also chosen by many couples as a honeymoon destination! With the fairy tale setting and “dreams come true” mentality, this is a magical choice for a romantic vacation. Known for superior entertainment and service, you know Disney will deliver a fabulous experience. Disney also has a wonderful array of resorts and restaurants to choose from. Hawaii

Hawaii is one of the most gorgeous honeymoon destinations in the world! It’s a popular choice for U.S. travelers because it doesn’t require a passport, and it has so much to offer! For those who want beaches, scenery, culture… Hawaii has it all. Each island has its own personality and if you have the time, we recommend choosing two to explore. Oahu is home to some of the most famous sites and most popular resorts, while Hawaii Island (the Big Island) is perfect for adventurous couples. Kauai, also known as the garden isle, offers incredible lush, green scenery while Maui is known for romance and honeymooners.

Where to Stay

There are so many resorts to choose from in Hawaii! On Oahu, we love the Ko Olina resort area where Disney’s Aulani and the Four Seasons Ko Olina are located. If you prefer Waikiki Beach (the main resort area), try the Royal Hawaiian or Westin Moana Surfrider. The Grand Wailea, the Sheraton Kaanapali or the Four Seasons Maui at Wailea are all great options in Maui! These are just a few suggestions, but there are so many incredible resorts to choose from on these beautiful islands!

Europe

Taking a trip to Europe is on many peoples’ bucket list, so why not choose it as your honeymoon destination? Incredible culture, scenery and cuisine make it a perfect choice. Plus, with so many amazing countries and cities to choose from, the options are endless! Paris, the City of Lights, is one of the most romantic cities in the world so it’s the perfect spot for a honeymoon. We loved our trip to Ireland, which is full of castles and beautiful greenery. Or why not choose Greece, where you can enjoy the stunning scenery, beaches and volcanic features. Another fabulous choice is Italy, where you can explore the romantic canals of Venice, go wine tasting in Tuscany and enjoy delicious cuisine after a day exploring the culture and history of Rome. There are so many romantic honeymoon destinations in Europe that we could go on and on!

Tour Companies

When traveling to Europe, you could consider a group tour or travel independently. For a honeymoon, we prefer not going with a group so you can spend more one-on-one time with your new spouse and explore at your own pace! Private tours arranged through a company like Kensington Tours would give you a private guide throughout your entire trip. If you prefer to have more time to explore on your own, Monograms would be an excellent choice! This tour option provides you with a half-day orientation tour and a local host onsite throughout your trip. This allows you the freedom to explore on your own, with the security and comfort of knowing that you have someone to contact if you ever need anything, have any questions or just need a dinner recommendation!

Cruise

Cruising is one of our favorite ways to travel, and it would be a perfect choice for a honeymoon! With so many out there, you can choose a cruise line that fits your personality and price range. There are also so many destinations to choose from. From the beautiful beaches of the Bahamas and the Caribbean, to the stunning glaciers of Alaska, to the culture and enchantment of Europe, and more! With a cruise, you get to explore multiple destinations without having to move hotels. Plus, enjoy fabulous dining, entertainment and service on board the ship. It’s no wonder cruising is now one of the most popular ways to travel! With so many options, this can be an amazing choice for any type of traveler.
